On behalf of the organizing committee, it is a great pleasure to announce that the 8th International Symposium in Quantitative Pharmacology (ISQP) will be held on November 4th to 6th in 2021, Beijing, China. We are very honored to invite you to attend and contribute to this Symposium which is also available online. 

        Under the joint efforts of academia, regulatory agencies and pharmaceutical industry, model-informed drug development (MiDD) is booming. Meanwhile, the demand for clinical development of innovative drugs in China has increased exponentially since a series of reformations in the pharmaceutical industry (e.g., “joining ICH”). As an emerging interdisciplinary field, quantitative pharmacology plays a crucial role in accelerating the clinical development of innovative drugs in China and the process of its internationalization. At the same time, quantitative pharmacology will also facilitate the rational use of drug in clinical practice following the concept of model-informed precision dosing (MiPD). 

    Since 2007, the Quantitative Pharmacology Committee of the Chinese Pharmacology Society has consecutively held seven successful international symposiums which has become a grand gathering in the field of quantitative pharmacology in East Asia. 

    Since the beginning of the 21st century, Chinese quantitative pharmacology has been using an interdisciplinary

approach to assist innovative drug development. Therefore, the theme of the 8th ISQP is “Unrelenting Innovation: the prospective and challenges in the next decade”. We would like to invite experts from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA, United States), National Medical Products Administration (NMPA, China), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT, United States), University at Buffalo, the State University of New York (University at Buffalo – SUNY, United States), The University of Michigan (United States), Uppsala University (Sweden), University of Oxford (United Kingdom), University of Manchester (United Kingdom), Peking University (China), Peking Union Medical College (China), Fudan University (China), Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine (China), China Pharmaceutical University (China), and other academic institutions, as well as international and Chinese pharmaceutical companies to participate in this symposium. 

    ISQP 2021 features the most recent and significant innovations and applications in fields of quantitative pharmacology and provides a platform for researchers and practitioners from academia, government, and industry to come together to discuss the opportunities and challenges in depth. The conference will offer extensive programs, including but not limited to excellent young forum, A3 pharmacometric conference, and regulatory science forum. In addition, attractive satellite workshops, such as the advanced PKPD course (University at Buffalo) and the advanced population pharmacokinetic course (University of Uppsala), will provide great opportunities for the audience to learn from the experts in the field.

As the capital of China with a history for more than 3000 years, Beijing, a rapidly changing city will present you a cultural experience with a mixture of old tradition and high technology during the stay.
